West Fulton Business Meeting Minutes

West Fulton Business Association Recap – October 30, 2025

I had such a great time attending the West Fulton Business Association (WFBA) meeting. It’s always energizing to see our neighboring WestSide business district hopping with ideas, projects, and people who truly care about this community.

They kicked off with introductions and an update from Officer Leon White (GRPD), who shared that staffing is improving and encouraged everyone to reach out via email about long-term issues. His focus is on relationship-based community policing, tackling recurring concerns like retail theft and homelessness in a proactive way.

Commissioner AliciaMarie Belchak gave a city update, highlighting progress in public safety, transportation, tree maintenance, and the City’s climate action plan. including a 68% reduction in carbon emissions plan. She also noted the importance of preparing for the added activity that the upcoming soccer stadium and amphitheater will bring to the WestSide.

There was discussion about the façade improvement grant updates, aiming to make the guidelines clearer and focus on true visual upgrades instead of maintenance. I loved hearing so many people engaged in improving how the corridor looks and feels.

Other highlights included updates from:

  • Annette Vandenberg (WGNA) on community hubs and housing initiatives

  • Gretchen James (John Ball Zoo) sharing exciting updates on new animal exhibits and improvements

  • Scott Bloem (The Other Way Ministries) inviting volunteers to help with their annual Christmas Store, a beautiful project supporting local families

  • And conversation about public restroomssocial districts, and parking improvements to help the WestSide grow sustainably.

All in all, it was an informative meeting, filled with collaboration, compassion, and a shared commitment to making the WestSide shine. I left reminded just how lucky we are to have such passionate people investing in this community.

It also reminded me how different each corridor is and that each business district has different needs and goals.
